The recent rise in temperature has created the most ideal climate for civilization that Earth has ever experienced. The next cycle will be colder and much less beneficial for mankind.
CAVEAT: Although we highly rate this book for its treatment of global-warming, we cannot endorse the authors’ enthusiasm for chemical fertilizers, pesticides, and genetically modified foods as solutions for global famine. Fortunately, that view is found in only a few paragraphs, and it has no bearing on global-warming, but our readers should know that we have misgivings about the toxic effects and long-range genetic danger to the human species posed by these technologies. That aside, this book is essential reading for anyone who wants to cut through the claims and counter-claims about global warming. 278 pages.
