GLOBAL WARMING ACCORDING TO TOM BROKAW
On July 16, 2006, The History Channel, in cooperation with the BBC, broadcast a spectacular two-hour documentary entitled "Global Warming; What You Need to Know." It was hosted by Tom Brokaw, a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. The mission of the CFR is to promote world government based on the model of collectivism, so it was no surprise that this program was a powerful propaganda statement for that goal. It advanced the standard collectivist argument: (1) We have a huge problem; and (2) The ultimate solution lies in laws and international treaties, such as the Kyoto Treaty, that will give government the power to dictate the smallest details of personal life, in the name of sustainable development, of course.

"Global Warming; What You Need to Know" is arguably the best science-fiction program ever produced. It is a brilliant combination of powerful images, compelling narration, and half truths. The greatest half-truth is the foundation fact upon which all others are based. It is the statement, repeated over and over again, that virtually all scientists agree that the small amount of global warming measured in the last century is caused by human presence on the planet and that it is a threat to our future survival. If this is true, then almost everything else makes sense. But this is a half-truth. The full truth is that virtually all scientists – selected to be interviewed for this program – hold that view. The full truth is that virtually all scientists whose livelihood depends on grants and tax-derived funding for creating global-warming disaster scenarios and government-mandated solutions hold that view. The full truth is that there are far more scientists who do – not – hold that view and who believe that global warming as we see it today is merely a tiny blip in a long-term Earth cycle and is not significantly effected by human activity - but you will not find their views presented in this documentary except by their detractors who are quick to dismiss them. The viewer is not allowed to know that many of these scientists have come to the conclusion that an increase in levels of carbon dioxide is actually a blessing for mankind and may result in an increase of agricultural production and life expectancy.

At one point, Tom Brokaw says: "The science behind global warming is overpowering." The truth is that the science behind the theory of global warming catastrophe is not overpowering at all, but the impact of the video is. It would be hard for someone who is not aware of the contrary evidence to view this program without coming away feeling that the case for catastrophic global warming has been proved. Period.

I don't know what this program cost, but it would not be surprising if it was in excess of a million dollars. Money does make a difference. Yet, with less than half that amount, it would be possible to produce an equally powerful documentary presenting the untold portion of the story and exposing the fallacies and deceptions embedded in the global-warming myth. But don't hold your breath. That is most unlikely to happen, because there are no agendas for profit or political power to be served by it.

The primary purpose of the global-warming myth is to scare the daylights out of us with visions of massive planetary catastrophe. The images of global winter, global dessert, global storms and floods, global migration, global starvation, and global extinction of species is on a par with the terrifying images conjured up by the threat of terrorist attacks and nuclear war. In all cases, the intended reaction is an emotional, uncritical acceptance of any solution that may be offered. Who cares about the political and social consequences? With such visions of destruction before our eyes, who could think about anything else? Why worry about property or privacy or even freedom when mankind is on the verge of extinction from global warming?

Such is the power of propaganda.

IS IT TIME TO CELEBRATE THE COMING DEMISE OF THE INCOME TAX?
We recently received an exuberant letter from Australia advising that high political figures there were finally beginning to acknowledge that the income tax is a bad idea and were actually speaking about repealing it. Attached to the letter was an article from a publication called Investigate. The article stated:

As pressure builds on the Howard Government to cut taxes, IAN WISHART reports on moves in the United States that go one giant leap further, and which may yet impact on Australians: the possible abolition of income tax. ... At the heart of it all lies a "rolling thunder"-style tax revolt that's been quietly sweeping across America since the 1990s. In places as diverse as local community halls, Washington, D.C. think tanks, and plush resort hotels in offshore tropical tax havens, people have been quietly gathering to discuss ways of removing America's cumbersome Internal Revenue Service (IRS) from their lives. Many of those meetings were instigated by so-called tax rebels who argued that the US Tax Code was invalid, and that people had a constitutional right, backed up by old Supreme Court judgments, not to pay the federal income tax. ... Whether the arguments were right or wrong turns out to be immaterial, because as of 2005 the tax revolt has placed so much pressure on the US tax system that it's cracking at the seams.

Just a few short weeks ago, President George W. Bush put the abolition of income tax firmly on his domestic agenda this term, with a special advisory panel due to report its recommendations by July 31st. And later in March, US Federal Reserve chairman Alan Greenspan added his voice to what is now a cacophony of calls for income tax to go, saying that individuals should be taxed on what they consume rather than what they earn. ... In a front page story in The New York Times on July 16 [2001], Bush's chief economic advisor Lawrence Lindsey confirmed that the White House has adopted a Ground Zero approach to tax reform, and that all issues, including the scrapping of income and company tax altogether, are "in the discussion stage."

This was my reply:

If you have not yet done so, I urge you to listen to the CD entitled The Perfect Tax. In it, you will be reminded that people like Bush and Greenspan are expert at saying what the public wants to hear but they never follow through. Voters are usually satisfied with words. It is an age-old trick of placating the masses by calling for reform but continuing the old policies anyway. After a while, the public loses interest and focuses on some new crisis and new reform. An income tax is one of the most powerful weapons available to collectivists. It is their means of rewarding their friends and punishing their enemies. It is the means by which they transfer wealth from one class to another or, sometimes, to a single corporation or individual. It is what gives them power over others and it is why they are sought after by lobbyists and contributors. Without the income tax, their importance and stature would be greatly diminished. Regardless of the lip service they may give to so-called tax reform, they will NEVER abandon the income tax. They may criticize it but they will not abandon it. They may alter it from time to time in minor ways, but they will not abandon it. They may add other taxes to it to divert attention from it but they will not abandon it. It is their favorite child. They will not abandon it.

Get my point?

The only way to eliminate the income tax is to replace collectivists in political office with individualists. Collectivists are the problem. They can never implement real solutions to the problems they create. It is a big mistake to become euphoric over the hopeful elimination of the income tax because of statements from the likes of George Bush and Alan Greenspan or editorials in the CFR-dominated New York Times. When collectivists say they want to eliminate the income tax, they are lying. They are merely setting us up for a sell-out. Later, after months or years of hearings and debate, they will throw in the towel and say: "Well, we tried. We fought the good fight, but we lost." That is the scenario that has been used repeatedly since we started to elect collectivists to office about a hundred years ago. It will not change until we start to un-elect them.

Let me know what you think of the CD. You may consider sharing it with your friends who are optimistic about the alleged collapse of the income tax in the United States. As Adlai Stevenson said, "Americans are suckers for good news," and I think that applies world around.

IN DEFENSE OF WARD CHURCHILL
Do you want the Nazi or Soviet model?
The link at the end of this section will take you to a video that deserves your careful attention, not only for the information it contains, but also for what it omits.

The information it contains is about how the United States government has supported totalitarian regimes around the world and provided them with military assistance. But it goes further than that. It is about how those regimes have used that military assistance to subjugate their citizens. But it goes further than that. It is about how that subjugation has resulted in the death and mutilation of innocent non-combatants, notably children. But it goes further than that. It is about how U.S. armed forces themselves have taken on this role and have done exactly the same things in many countries of the world. But it goes further than that. It is about how this has created hatred of America by the victims and that this is what motivates acts of terrorism.

But it goes further than that. This program is also about the Principles of Nuremberg that fixed guilt on anyone who knowingly participates in a war crime. Karl Eichmann was hung as a war criminal, not because he killed anyone, but because he knowingly expedited the railway system and supply lines for death camps. He was merely a technician, but he was found guilty of mass murder because he willingly participated in the process. Followed to its logical extension, that means that Americans who knowingly participate as technicians in a process that results in a war crime is guilty of that crime just the same as their leaders.

That's a chain of ideas that is not acceptable in polite American society. Those who say such things are categorized as disloyal to their country (just as they were in Nazi Germany). However, a college professor at the University of Colorado actually did say these things, and the University has decided to fire him from his post. This video was produced in his defense.

All of this you can get from the video itself, so why are we bothering to write this analysis? The answer is that what the video does not contain is just as important as what it does. What it does not reveal is the fact that Professor Churchill and the company distributing the program are from what commonly is called the Left of the political spectrum. On several occasions you will hear Churchill deride the Right Wing as the opponents of his position and as the perpetrators of the war crimes he describes. He is a member of AIM (The American Indian Movement), which has called for revolution (they call it a "war of national liberation") in the Southwest and the establishment of a separate Indian nation. AIM has ties to Marxist-Leninist organizations and uses the slogans and strategies of old-style Communist revolution. None of this, of course, is in the video. (More)
